Backflow prevention assemblies must be installed according to Charleston Water System’s specifications, which are posted below by type of backflow assembly.

Additional information is included in our Cross Connection Control Program Manual. 

After an assembly is installed, please call (843) 727-6981 or complete and submit an Inspection Request Form to request an inspection. Please provide the following information:

  • The backflow preventer make, model, size, and serial number.
  • Where the backflow preventer is located on the property (i.e. looking from street, left side of house next to AC).

  1. Double Check Valve Assembly (DCVA) – 3/4” – 2” – Below-ground installation
  2. Double Check Valve Assembly (DCVA) – Above-ground installation
  3. Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB)
  4. Reduced Pressure Assembly (RP)
